European Sales Manager
August 29Handley James Chemical are excited to be partnered with a passionate and progressive chemical distribution business, focusing in the supply of raw materials into the Composites, Thermoplastics, Surface Coatings, Construction, Adhesives plus others, both locally and internationally.
Due to a recent acquisition and over 20% growth year on year, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Sales Manager to join the European team.
As a European Sales Manager you will focusing on both the existing relationships and the strategic approach to new business. You will be a motivated and structured individual who will utilise the sales cycle and internal functions to develop the sales strategy in the respective disciplines (Alongside the Managing Director), maximise the commerciality of existing business as well as drive new business throughout the European region.

- Responsible for the agreed industries, products and/or regions across Europe
- The delivery of the European short-term and long-term sales strategy through the development of existing and new relationships
- Delivery of budgeted targets and KPI’s as set
- Determine with the SMT a business plan and objectives required for growth in gross profit, year on year and in line with budgeted targets
- Representation of the business at relevant trade exhibitions and events
- Identify potential investments/acquisition targets
- Key relationship builder with customers, principals and colleagues
- Work closely with the group team, the BMS and QMS to ensure that customer and principal requirements and enhance service levels to both
- Travel across the EU and International will be required as part of this role (>50%)
- Degree educated in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent or significant relevant industry experience
- Exceptional technical knowledge in specified markets i.e. Composites, Thermoplastics, Surface Coatings, Construction, Adhesives
- Excellent business acumen
- Able to communicate fluently in English and another language (i.e. Dutch, German, Italian or French)
- Ability to utilise data and take relevant action
- Focused on creating new business opportunities by networking and prospecting, whilst ensuring retention of business levels via repeat business
- Fully understands and implements the sales cycle involved with technical sales, concentrating on areas of highest return for the business
- Experience using CRM platforms and relevant Microsoft packages i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
