With a site based in Alfreton they are looking for an experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer.

- Lead risk assessments e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, management of change checklist. Coaching and support of site teams in risk assessment methods
- Manage the site HAZOP programme, by leading HAZOPs as appropriate on new projects and on existing plant. Ensure HAZOP actions are prioritised, closed out and obtain commitment to site resources to deliver improvements
- Provide process engineering and process safety assurance on projects and plant modifications. For example: Performing or checking engineering calculations, advising the team on relevant legislation/standards, review basis of design etc.
- Lead incident investigations for process safety events on site. Provide focussed consultancy support to group process safety incidents, and share lessons learned
- Develop, improve and implement site systems and process related to process engineering and safety. Development of site process safety management systems, with the medium to long term intention to share and develop to other group sites
- Provide consultative support for external regulator visits i.e. HSE and EA. Support the site in resolving actions and improvements.
- Provide leadership and communication of major accident hazard vulnerabilities/improvements/emerging vulnerabilities to the site and group leadership team, to ensure the right attention is given to process safety
- Lead and provide training on process safety and process safety management to ensure process safety is accessible to site and group teams
- Degree qualified mechanical or Chemical engineer
- Chartered Engineer (Preferable)
- Significant experience of project/engineering in the chemical manufacturing industry, working on COMAH regulated sites
- Demonstrated experience of communicating and influencing senior management to drive process safety improvements
- Experience of influencing across business sites and functions
- Extensive experience of Hazard Studies and HAZOP
- Risk assessment through the project lifecycle activities
- Technically proficient in Pressure Relief calculation, mass/energy balances, pressure drop calculations and equipment sizing
- Experience in SIL Assessments, Engineering standards, COMAH regs. Legislative requirements for plant equipment and MOC process
- Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Exceptional leadership ability and able to communicate with impact to senior leaders and plant operators
- Valid driving license and passport. Some UK & EU travel may be required
