We have been retained by a market-leading manufacturer and distributor of construction materials, with a true international presence, to recruit a Legal Counsel to support the existing team covering the Eastern Hemisphere.   My client is a hugely growing, £multi million business with sites all over the world. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to progress and develop their career further within a well-established organisation that is expanding and investing in growth and its staff.   Your main responsibilities will include:  
  • Counsel the business teams with respect to the day-to-day matters, areas of risk and key strategic initiatives. Challenge and influence key stakeholders to ensure best practice and business risk is mitigated
  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts;
    • Review, advise, drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and terms and conditions as required by the business to support the sale of products in relation to specific projects
    • Relating to the manufacture of products including licence/manufacturing agreements
    • Facilitating the dissemination of products, such as distribution and agency agreements
    • Relating to the licensing of intellectual property for the businesses including design software
    • Consultancy appointments, confidentiality agreements, join venture agreements etc.
  • Liaising with external lawyers and supporting evidence gathering in legal proceedings, including claims, patent/trademark infringements/revocations and commercial disputes
  • Assisting with the company’s ESG initiative on specific projects as requested
  • Instructing and managing external legal advisers across the Eastern Hemisphere. Interpreting and analysing external legal advice, assessing reliability, challenging where needed and providing comprehensive succinct business focused advice
  Currently in a similar legal counsel position or equivalent, you will be a qualified solicitor entitled to practice in England & Wales with a valid practicing certificate. You will also have practical legal experience in commercial contracts and corporate ideally within a similar or related industry and/or a consultancy focusing on the construction sector (Desirable).   In house experience would be preferred however, not essential, as would an appreciation of advertising/marketing/competitor issues, commercial property, competition law and procurement law. International experience would also be advantageous for this position and dealing with local solicitors in the varying regions.   You will be keen to assume a variety of responsibilities and enjoy the variety such a role brings. You will be an excellent communicator and have good organisational skills, ability to deal with a wide variety of matters in a fast paced environment.   This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join an established, secure and growing manufacturer in order to progress their career.
