We have been retained by a specialist engineering business in the Blackburn area to recruit a Machine Shop Manager. This organisation is very well established and has grown consistently and gained an excellent reputation.   This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for a role within an organisation that is expanding and investing heavily in its growth and its staff.   Our client is currently looking for an experienced Machine Shop Manager to drive improvements in all areas and functions within the business.   Reporting to the Operations Director   You will be responsible for:  
  • Leading the business, managing the day to day activities
  • The efficient management of the Departments to ensure optimal utilisation of resources
  • Implementation of lean and CI initiatives such as OEE, Kaizan, VSM, SQCDP etc.
  • Ensure that department is measured and controlled to consistently achieve targets
  • Promote and implement improvement initiatives consistently
  • Operate cross functionally to ensure the right products are being processed and prepared to sustain a high OTIF
  • Empower the people to be open about the challenges and promote a culture of open communication and collaborative resolution
  With at least 5 years’ experience at management level, you will have gained this within a machine shop or workshop environment and will have strong leadership and management skills. Experienced in managing and developing people is key, you will be engaging and have excellent communication skills. Having gained exposer to planning and work prioritisation you will be extremely organised, proven, and credible.   As an expanding organisation and one that is extremely entrepreneurial, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary.
