Operations Manager

Handley James Chemical has been retained by their client, to confidentially recruit an experienced Operations/Plant Manager for a site of theirs in South of Paris, France.   The role will ultimately report to the Operations Director and will initially have full responsibility and accountability for a multimillion plant. You will lead the implementation and mobilisation of the teams ensuring at all times full compliance with all regulations, health and safety productivity and budget.   Key Responsibilities  

• Full responsibility and accountability of a multi-million plant on behalf of my client’s customer
• Ensuring the site has the highest safety standards through the implementation of safe systems of work
• Creating a ‘Safety First’ culture on site and leading by example
• Ensuring compliance with the stakeholders safety systems and procedures and working together to achieve the overall goal of zero harm
• Operations and service is conducted in full compliance with relevant regulatory and statutory requirements
• To achieve agreed forecast profit margins
• Leading and motivate the operational teams
• Provide regular reporting on financial and project delivery matters to company and customer
• Company procedures and policies are maintained and developed across all areas of the project

  Candidate Requirements  

• Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent scientific qualification
• NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in safety
• Proven experience leading chemical or similar industry related plant
• Experience in managing multiple safe systems of work – Permits to Work, LOTO, MOC, Risk Assessment etc.
• Fluent in French language, working knowledge of English
• Be highly customer focused and understand the need for a customer service framework
• Experience of building and leading diverse teams as well as a range of relationships and influential lines
• Excellent team leadership, daily operations management and problem solving skills are essential, ideally within a process operations environment
