Production Shift Manager
January 19Our client is an industry leading expert within the agricultural science space, part of a £multimillion, global business with manufacturing sites worldwide, they focus on innovative and sustainable crop protection technologies.
We are currently recruiting for a Production Shift Manager for their site based in Deeside. The role will provide strong leadership, strategic direction, management in the operations area of the manufacturing site by providing clear vision/direction and ensuring effective use of the resources of the supervised shift. Ensuring manufacture of products to agreed standards and timeframes.
This role is working Monday – Friday on a weekly shift (0600-1400/1400-2200)

- Provide management, direction leadership and coaching of the shift production team, auditing and coordination ensuring all plant equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner whilst meeting expected quality standards
- Provides appropriate support and direction that assures effective use of resources
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensures that cost management systems and cost improvement projects are in place and properly used in order to maintain a low cost, high efficiency, competitive position
- Develops, maintains and suggests improvements within SAP production system by monitoring bills of materials, recipes and outputs
- Responsible for housekeeping maintenance and optimisation through Lean and 5S programs
- Acts as a ‘Main Site Incident Controller’. Training and involvement with development and execution of emergency scenarios and procedures
- Agree, own and deliver daily/weekly/monthly production targets
- Ensure effective communication with the team including briefings, TBTs as necessary
- Responsibility for COMAH compliance on an Environmental permitted site
- To be flexible to the developing and changing needs of the role and adapt accordingly
- Take ownership of/and deliver within defined timeframes the production area objectives and targets
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve production problems
- Supervisory/leadership experience within a process manufacturing environment i.e. Food, Chemicals, Plastics etc. (COMAH experience would be ideal)
- Chemistry/Chemical/Manufacturing/Chemical Engineering qualification i.e. HNC/HND – Degree would be advantageous
- Lean/5S would be ideal
- General working knowledge of plant engineering, quality assurance practices and environmental management
- Able to manage and facilitate change by encouraging engagement and participation from team members. Leading a pipeline of improvement initiatives
- Exceptional organisational and planning skills
- Good IT skills including SAP (Training can be provided) Microsoft packages
