Purchasing Manager

We have been retained by a specialist manufacturing company based in the Manchester area who are looking to recruit a Purchasing Manager to join their business. This organisation is a world leading leading manufacturer of their product. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to progress and develop their career further within a well-established business that is expanding and investing heavily in growth and its staff.   Reporting directly to the Operations Director and will work cross functionally with internal functions and external suppliers, your main responsibilities will include:  

• Lead the purchasing function to achieve optimum stock availability with timely delivery of raw materials, finished goods, packaging and consumables
• Establish a partnership and relationships with a supplier for several key materials
• Leading the department on daily basis to ensure materials are ordered and expedited in line with the production schedule
• Look at supplier rationalisation and cost reduction projects
• Work cross functionally with Production and Materials to achieve a lean supply chain flow
• Analyse the direct and indirect spend and negotiate on terms to achieve the best overall supply chain cost
• Introducing a culture of best practice and continuous improvement within the department

  A CIPS or Degree qualified Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain role within a manufacturer, you will be experienced in working collaboratively and cross functionally. You will have experience of purchasing raw materials. You will be proven in supplier liaison, building effective relationships and being proactive in terms of controlled material supply.
