Market Manager – Elastomers
November 21Handley James Chemical are excited to be partnered with a passionate and progressive chemical distribution business, focusing in the supply of raw materials into the Composites, Thermoplastics, Surface Coatings, Construction, Adhesives plus others, both locally and internationally.
Due to a recent acquisition and over 20% growth year on year, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Market Manager for their Elastomers division to join their UK Sales Team.
As a Market Manager you will focus your sales and marketing activities on materials that enhance properties or productivity, ensuring you build a sustainable business in the given division. This role will be a 50/50 split of the management and growing of current customers, as well as the strategic identification of new sales opportunities here in the UK.

- Delivery of budgeted targets and KPI’s as set
- Record all customer and principal interaction within the CRM system
- Increase revenue, gross margin and number of trading customers
- Ensure exceptional service and professional with all customers
- Determine and action criteria for prioritising accounts
- Determine with the SD a business plan and actions required for growth
- Representation of the company at relevant trade exhibitions and specific events
- Proactively provide business development proposals, properly qualified and quantified
- Work closely with the internal teams ensuring you meet customer and principal requirements and enhance service levels to both
- Travel within the UK will be required in this role
- Degree educated in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering (desirable) or equivalent or significant relevant industry experience
- Exceptional technical knowledge in the chemical market, ideally Elastomers
- Excellent business acumen
- Ability to utilise data and take relevant action
- Focused on creating new business opportunities by networking and prospecting, whilst ensuring retention of business levels via repeat business
- Fully understands and implements the sales cycle involved with technical sales, concentrating on areas of highest return for the business
- Experience using CRM platforms and relevant Microsoft packages i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
- Provide forecast and financial data as part of the budgeting process
- Ability to be a self-starter and work upon your own initiative
