Engineering Manager

We are excited to be partnered with a global and market leading chemical business who specialise in transformation of polyurethane chemistry, supplying a number of industries.   With a site based in Alfreton they are looking for an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead the engineering teams on two plants.   Key Responsibilities  
  • A personal role model for the team – with exceptional safety standards, well organised, goes the extra mile and leads by example.
  • Actively lead, coach, mentor and develop direct reports/engineering teams
  • Ensuring the engineering team actively participate in the daily reporting, own and progress actions:
    • Top 5 and Top 15 Meetings
    • Hazard Cards
    • AIMS reports
    • MAR’s
    • Projects
    • HSE/EA, HAZOP/SIL/HS Actions
  • Deliver maintenance in line with the following frameworks;
    • COMAH, PSSR, Electricity at work, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR, CDM, HASAWA, Asbestos Control, Fire Reform Act, Ageing Plant etc.
  • P&IDs are maintained and current
  • COMAH safety critical mechanical items listed and intervention/replacement/inspection programmes managed closely and actions closed in a timely manner
  • Manager isolations and permits to work – maintain a schedule of points of isolation. Identify aby non-compliance i.a.w.
  • Update and follow the Maintenance Management Procedure whenever significant changes occur
  • Maintain a documented strategy for Maintenance that reflects the annual maintenance budget. Ensuring timings for scheduled work & spend/cash flow plans are aligned and delivered OTIF
  • Champion 6S, ensure your team engage and actively support projects
  • Work collaboratively with other internal functions of the business
  Requirements  
  • HND in Engineering discipline (Degree preferable)
  • Significant experience leading an engineering team within a COMAH environment
  • NEBOSH certificate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office, Autocad/Solidworks other CAD packages
  • Experience of Lean Management Techniques/Kaizen
  • Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic systems/rotating plant equipment
  • A good working knowledge of how control systems architecture & configuration
  • Site utilities
  • Exceptional leadership experience
  • Proven ability to motivate a multi-disciplined team
